Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! We’ve put together 3 simple recipes for you and your little sweethearts! Our healthy, wholesome ingredients will make your heart flutter while you watch them (and yourself!) enjoy theses special treats.
First up, we have an easy vegan and gluten free waffle recipe: Applesauce Waffles Topped with Fresh Berries & Chocolate Ever After
- 1 cup gluten free waffle mix
- 3/4 cup vanilla almond milk (or milk of choice)
- 1/4 cup of Once Upon a Farm Straight from the Tree applesauce
- A drizzle of Once Upon a Farm Chocolate Ever After
- Coconut oil to grease the waffle iron
- 3-5 strawberries sliced
- A handful of raspberries
Directions: Heat your waffle maker. In your mixer, add waffle mix, almond milk and applesauce. Mix on low for 2 minutes then let stand for 2 minutes to thicken. Use coconut oil to grease the waffle iron. Pour 1/4 of the batter into your waffle iron and close. Remove the waffle when it is finished, then add 1/4 more of the batter to make your second waffle. This recipe makes 4 waffles. While the waffles cook, cut your strawberries and put the Chocolate Ever After Pouch into a cup of very warm water (warming the pouch will help the chocolate pour better and give you a warm waffle topping). When your waffles are finished, top with strawberries and Chocolate Ever After drizzle to taste.
Note: If you want the chocolate to be a thin drizzle, hold a frosting tip over the pouch spout.
Next, we made a video showing you how to make our delicious gluten-free Valentine’s Day Pancakes: Sun-Shiny Strawberry Patch Pancakes
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 egg
- 2 pouches of Once Upon a Farm Sun-Shiny Strawberry Patch
- 1 1/4 cup gluten free pancake mix
- 1 tbsp. coconut oil
- 5 strawberries
Directions: In your mixer, add pancake mix, egg, almond milk and 2 Sun-Shiny Strawberry Patch pouches. Mix for 2 minutes. Slice strawberries into heart shapes. Heat griddle and grease with coconut oil. Place 3 strawberries (red side down) on the griddle. Pour some batter over each strawberry. Let pancakes cook about 2 minutes then check them and flip if ready. Serve with coconut whipped cream and chopped strawberries. Makes 6-8 pancakes
Tip: These are amazing with coconut whipped cream (we like to substitute the powdered sugar for maple syrup, honey or dates).
Last but not least, we have chocolate dipped strawberries. Ok, maybe its not a “recipe” but simple is good and this is simply delicious! Just grab some fresh strawberries and a pouch of Chocolate Ever After. This is a great alternative to those sugary, chemical laden melted chocolate dips… Our Chocolate Ever After is a smooth and creamy blend of banana, avocado, raspberries, raw cacao powder and date. If you want to share this “chocolate dip” with a group, you can put it on a platter with strawberries, cherries, raspberries, macaroons, graham crackers or even mango or orange slices.
